Farewell to Winter Art Show
Artifaktori (Davis Sq, Somerville, MA) is pleased to announce the
opening of its Farewell to Winter Art Show. The show
celebrates creative energy in all shapes and forms, and features a
wide variety of work, from sculpture to photo collage, from the traditional
to the bizarre. Bringing together many local artists at varying
stages of their artistic growth and careers, Farewell to Winter
provides a unique perspective on the Boston art scene that cannot be
found in a gallery.
This fusion of styles is natural for Artifaktori owner Amy Berkowitz, who fills her cozy shop with carefully selected pieces of vintage clothing
and housewares, antiques, and local art. With an ever growing network
of artistic friends(and a rapidly growing customer base, hungry for
more of Artifaktori’s fresh and quirky style) Berkowitz, a recent Mass
Art grad, realized that her store had become a conduit
for artistic networking. The art show was conceived not only to
spotlight the artists and their work, but also to raise
awareness about art being produced in the local
community.
“Art means different things to different people and there are so many artists
exploring new and exciting things right now. The internet has become
a powerful tool for the self promoted artist but there is something to be
said for experiencing art in a public venue. The art gets the
attention it deserves and people are able to make a real connection
that just is not possible through the internet. I think that this is
something that more and more artists are re-discovering and I wanted
this show to give them the opportunity to do that.”
Featured Artists include: Eileen Gagarin, Thomas Gothers, Richard
Chase, Ashley Vick, Naoko Matsumoto, Sara Theophall, Sarazah Orme, Kat
Craig Candy Leonard, Erica Arce and Amanda Maciel Antunes.
The show will run from February 28th to March 27th with an opening
party on Thursday, March 5th, 7-9pm. All are welcome. For more
